I tried to email you this but didn't find an address. I'm curious about your take on the article in the NYT today which describes an officer who

- "planted white powder on a suspect in a drug arrest, which cost him his job — though he won it back with the help of the police union.

- was accused by "a group of children ... of pointing a revolver at them and hurling racial epithets."

- "was sued on accusations that he “violently and viciously” beat a 13-year-old suspect.

* was subsequently appointed director of the narcotics divis. of the NYPD, and

- had bail "set at $2 million" in a case in which he was charged with "stealing bribes in a bail-bond scheme"
